Lake Area Express Track Club

Greetings from the Lake Area Express Track Club. It's that time of year again, and we are eagerly anticipating a wonderful, successful track season. We hope to encompass the pursuit of excellence in health and fitness. We desire that each kid reaches his/her highest potential, through solid work ethics.

If you look closely at the top track & field athletes in Southwest LA, you'll notice a common denominator - "Lake Area Express Track Club". Hats off to the coaches, parents, and athletes. We are surrounded by an elite group of kids, ranging from age 7 to 18. This is another chance for us to encourage, motivate, teach, and develop our youth. The club accomplished a great deal this year. Most recently by sending 3 athletes to Grennsboro, N.C to compete in the USATF Jr. Olympics (July 28th - Aug. 2nd) and 22 more athletes will be going to Des Moines, Iowa, (Aug. 1st - 8th) to compete in the 2009 (AAU) Jr. Olympics.

Brendon Gilroy is to be commended, for forming this club 13 years ago. In addition, Charles Avery's dedication to the coaching and development of athletes, a number of records have been set; such as 20 National Champions, 105 All Americans, and 2 International Athletes. We have athletes at McNeese, LSU, Southern, Grambling, Yale, UL, Nichols, and Texas Southern. Some of our athletes have literally crossed the U.S. from coast to coast. The experience of travel and exposure to high competition levels has increased their self-confidence.

Thanks to the parents/guardians/supporters. Simply stated every kid that qualified and wanted to go went. I am encouraging you to register & become a member of the Lake Area Express Track Club.
